Summary Sunday

Wow I didnt such a good job of blogging this week! At least there is always Summary Sundays to catch you up. Monday and Tuesday must have been pretty slow, because I'm not really remembering anything we did other than our regular routine. Monday I made a bag out of Dollar Tree place mats.

Before

After. The M is out of ribbon because I was too lazy to change my machine over to embroider. It turned out super cute if I do say so myself!! This was with two place mats.

Before; a place mat and a potholder

After; an awesome bag with a pocket on the outside!

Tuesday before Ian got here, MK and I made Father's Day gifts. I hope to get them in the mail this week so Wesley will get his by Saturday. No pictures yet because we can't ruin the surprise! MK and Ian both went to bed really well this week. I think they are finally getting use to going to bed with the other one around. I had worked some over time the last few weeks, so I took Wednesday off as a me day. I was able to get a lot of sewing done. I almost finished the t-shirt quilts I started on back in February or March.

I was so happy to get these done and delivered. I actually finished them on Friday evening, which happened to be Stroke's birthday! The quilts were made out of his old t-shirts. It was weird because I had the tv on in the background while I was finishing up Friday and kept seeing the American Caner Society's commercial for the official sponsor of birthdays. It was a weird that Stroke passed due to cancer, and the commercial kept playing as I was finishing his memorial quilt. More on the event below.

Wednesday was also awards night at gymnastics (it's every 8 weeks). So I had my camera with me and was able to get lots of pictures during class of her in action. She has improved so so so much since January.

Do warm-ups. Warm-up time is a bit crazy sometimes because all the 615 classes warm-up at the same time. MK has finally decided to pay attention during warm-ups.

She has started holding on all by herself. Coach Andrew has made several comments about how well she is doing.

Her class. There are a few that were in her class last time, but no one from her 1st session.

Thursday was a regular Thursday. I sewed on the quilt some more. Friday was pretty boring too! I got the batten put in both quilts Friday night. Saturday started way to early with MK waking up at 815. She got so whiney by 11 that I made her take a nap. She doesn't always take a nap on the weekends, but when she cries about every little thing, I know its time for a nap. After she woke up from her nap we got her bag packed and I took her to Ian's for the night. Thanks to Kim for keeping her!! I met up with Lori, Natalie and Brother. We headed over to the hash (a running club with a drinking problem for those newer readers). It was a memorial hash for a fellow hasher that last his battle with cancer a few years back. I never got to meet Stroke, but know he has made a HUGE impact on those that did know him. The money paid to participate in this particular hash all went to our Relay for Life team, Team Go Go. It was great seeing old friends and making new, all while raising money to kick cancer's ass!!
Today started earlier than Saturday and MK wasn't even here!! Ben brought Ayden over. Ayden spent the day with MK and I while his Mommy worked and his Daddy went on the Stroke memorial bike/motorcycle ride.

We are heading to Alabama on Thursday night, so there probably won't be a Sunday Summary next week. Hopefully I'll get a few blogs done during the week. I'm looking forward to cramming a lot into the visit. We'll be there from late Thursday until sometime Tuesday. The main reason we are going is for the Carter reunion. MK and I are planning on staying with Michelle and Hailey. We also hope to spend some time with Mom's side of the family. I'm going to try to fit a trip to Troy into the mix, but don't know if we'll be able to make that happen. I'd love to hand out with the mafia, it's been so long since we've seen them!!

It's time for Summary Sunday! I didn't take a whole lot of pictures this week, so I'll just have to try to remember what we did! I'll start with Tuesday since last week's summary was on Monday and covered our sewing adventures. Tuesday I brought my work laptop home to work on a video presentation...nothing got done! Ian came to play so his Mom could go to volleyball. We love it when Ian comes to play!! Wednesday MK had gymnastics and did really well. There are two different set of events they do. She definitely does better on the one that includes zipline, bars, trampoline and vault. After we got home I got her fed and put to bed. I then did about 2 hours of work on a presentation that I had to give on Saturday. I'm drawing a blank on Thursday. I know I blogged and posted the awesome tshirt bag I made at work. Friday at work I was able to finalize our presentation. I have now learned to edit audio and video. We also unofficially found out we were selected to present at the Florida Dependency Summit. I'm super excited about that. The opportunity to spread the word about how child welfare should be done by including family whether the parents want them to know or not! While I was cooking dinner Sabre scratched on the backdoor so I opened it to let him out. The back porch/deck is all fenced so he can go be outside. Well MK decided to follow him. I thought she as just playing on the porch. I go to check on them and she is in the pool!

Saturday morning I had to work. I, along with Kelly and Trina, did a family finders presentation for the Hillsborough County Foster Parent Association. It was a good group that seemed very interested. Saturday afternoon I tried to do some embroidering and sewing, but realized Kim still had my memory card. I instead worked on the tshirt quilts that I have had since March-ish. I hope to take a day off this week from the extra time I've worked lately. If I do I'll work hard to get the quilts finished. MK took a nap about 330-530 so she was up for a while last night. Which means she slept in today! She slept til about 830!! Before we could get breakfast ready she was outside and ready to be in the pool. She did let me get her bathing suit on her before getting in. I posted on facebook that we were bored and Kim (a different Kim than the one with my memory card!) and Ian invited us to go to the park/beach.

Kim doesn't like the water, so I took both kids out to the "deep". The could both still stand and touch the bottom.

After all that swimming and playing in the sand, they drank lots and lots of water.

MK fell asleep on the way home. We just sat around and watch tv for a while. Natalie went to Famous Pizza and picked up some ziti and spaghetti. MK ate 3 helping of ziti and one of spaghetti!!

She made a HUGE mess. She even had it in her hair...the back of it! It was already past bedtime so I gave her a bath in the sink. She didn't really like it. She went to bed with no milk. This is a 1st, hopefully of many more nights. I'm now off to check facebook and go to bed!

Be sure to hop on over to the Creative Girl's blog and check out the other awesome blogs! There is a link on the side as well as below.

let's get crafty

I was so upset I didn't get to post this last night, but work called. I saw this amazing projoct atThe T-Shirt Diaries a few days ago. I was at Target with a coworker who was buying a gift for one of her son's friends. She was going to look for a gift bag when I remembered the reusable tshirt bag. So she bought this:

I had left my sewing machine at Kim's house on Memorial Day and she happen to have brought it with her to work today. So when we got back to the office, I got to work. Shhh! Don't tell I was sewing at work!! It took less than 5 minutes to make this:

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! I can't wait to turn all my tshirts into bags!

Here are a few shirts/onesies I've embroidered lately.

A birthday gift for my best friend's now 7 year old daughter. She is also getting the color pencil holder I blogged about here.

Onesies' for my future nephew. Brother is an Alabama fan, Natalie a Florida...I did not want to make the onesies obvious that they were for the schools, but a little hint!

I hope to have a sewing/embroidering afternoon on Saturday.
